Welcome to Mondi Syktyvkar LPK!
JSC Mondi Syktyvkar LPK is a leader in the pulp and paper industry and the largest paper manufacturer in Russia. The enterprise's capacity allows it to annually produce more than 1.2 million tons of high-quality competitive products: office, offset, newsprint, containerboard and dry market pulp.
Production
The plant was founded in 1969 and is an enterprise with a full production cycle: from the procurement of raw materials to the shipment of finished products to the consumer. Mondi SYK has three paper-making machines, one cardboard-making machine and one drying machine for the production of marketable pulp. The plant also has wood processing, pulp production, a thermal power plant and a complex of wastewater treatment facilities.
About 4,500 people are involved in the production cycle of the enterprise, including employees of the company’s own logging sites located in seven regions of the Komi Republic.
Mondi SYPC maintains its leading position in the market by regularly investing in production modernization. This allows the plant to annually increase the output of finished products, improve their quality characteristics, and increase the level of efficiency.
Production
The company has modern equipment and uses the latest production technologies, producing competitive products and selling them both in the domestic and foreign markets, guaranteeing consumers high quality and environmental friendliness.
The company’s most famous brand is “Snegurochka” office paper, the leader in the rating of Russian products among office papers. It has been in high demand on the market for more than 20 years and is one of the most recognizable brands of office paper in Russia and the CIS countries.
The famous ProVantage Komiwhite topliner manufactured by Mondi SYK is designed for the production of flat layers of corrugated cardboard. High-quality containerboard made from northern wood is used in the production of various types of packaging, including for household appliances and food products.
Sustainable development
The policy pursued by Mondi SYK in the field of ecology and social sphere is directly related to the goals of sustainable development. Responsible business involves maintaining a balance between the environmental, social and economic interests of the enterprise, which makes significant efforts to ensure that the impact of production on the air, soil and forests is systematically reduced and becomes minimal in the future.
The production facilities of the plant are of strategic importance for the residents of the Komi Republic. Thus, the water treatment facilities of Mondi Syktyvkar process over 80 million cubic meters of water per year, including 100% of wastewater from Syktyvkar, the Ezhvinsky district and nearby industrial enterprises. In the bark boilers of the thermal power plant, 100% of bark and wood production waste is burned, the share of green energy in the overall energy balance is at least 40%. The enterprise's thermal power plant provides about 20 percent of the region's electricity needs, and is also the only source of heat and hot water for the Ezhvinsky district of Syktyvkar with a population of about 60 thousand people.
In 2019-2020, the plant completed the implementation of two strategic investment projects - the modernization of treatment facilities and a thermal power plant. The result of this work was increased efficiency and improved environmentally important indicators of production activities. For example, the quality of certain wastewater treatment indicators is now no worse than in the Vychegda River, and CO2 emissions have been reduced by more than 200,000 tons per year.
Mondi SYPC supports the environmental initiatives of the World Wildlife Fund (Russia), cooperates with the Silver Taiga Foundation for Sustainable Development, together with which it works to preserve the biodiversity of northern (boreal) forests for future generations.
The company's forest lease base is 2 million 440 406 hectares. The plant sets an example in the field of conservation of forests of high environmental value in the Komi Republic. Mondi Syktyvkar voluntarily limits forest use to 25 percent of the territory that is especially valuable for the population and the conservation of biodiversity. These include mandatory restrictions in accordance with legal requirements and voluntary restrictions - from strict protection and seasonal harvesting regimes to a moratorium on activities and agreement with the interested party. In its own nursery, the company annually grows more than 8 million pine and spruce seedlings with a closed root system. This is the company’s contribution to the renewal of forest resources of the Komi Republic and neighboring regions.
